A part of your student’s curriculum, they experience academic learning while getting hands on in the school garden. The Garden to Table program utilizes BVSD standards-based lessons incorporating science, math and language arts. Students have opportunities to learn about ecology, economics, meteorology, and the importance of supporting healthy ecosystems.
Garden to Table is Community
Our garden brings students, teachers, and parents together with fun and educational activities. These age appropriate activities range from planting seeds & plants, harvesting produce,, scavenger hunts, learning about climate and environmental concerns, and much more!
Parents are an integral part of Garden to Table. Parent volunteers help with this program in many ways. They help prepare the garden space for planting, set up for equipment/ materials for class activities, they assist students in the garden, and parents and families maintain the garden throughout the growing season. Additionally, parents can be a part of the Garden to Table Team as Volunteer Leaders. Such parents become familiar with all grade garden activities and program coordination so they may take the lead to facilitate activities and maintenance, and guide other volunteers.
We are actively seeking parent volunteers!
If you are interested in volunteering for activities, maintenance, or to join the Garden Team as a Volunteer Leader please contact our school's volunteer Garden Coordinator: firstname.lastname@example.org
Additionally, volunteer information specific to your student’s class and all school activities will be sent home via email as their scheduled activity approaches, or in Friday Folders if you have requested hard copy communications.
