OUR GIFTED & TALENTED FOCUS

Lafayette Elementary is proud to be a Gifted & Talented (GT) Focus School, offering meaningful and challenging learning experiences for all students.

We have a Gifted & Talented Advisor, Teacher-Librarian and School Counselor who work with identified students in grades K–5. Each licensed staff member is highly trained in Gifted Education. Staff receive Teacher Professional Development in depth and complexity strategies to enhance instruction across subjects.  Our school counselor provides social emotional learning instruction to all classes, as well as small group instruction and student check-ins to support students’ mental health and well being.

Academic Enrichment

  • Advanced Math Programming for grades 3–5
     
  • Math Extension Opportunities for grades K–5
     
  • Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), Literacy Enrichment and Passion Projects during WIN time (all grades)

The Boulder Valley School District (BVSD) provides Gifted & Talented programming aligned with district policy and guided by a body of evidence for identification.
The BVSD Gifted Education Office supports schools through professional development, programming, and family communication.

Additional Opportunities

  • Acceleration Policy: For subject or grade-level advancement
     
  • Early Access: For highly advanced students entering kindergarten or first grade
     

The classroom teacher is the primary provider of advanced academic services, documented through each student’s Advanced Learning Plan (ALP) or ICAP (secondary level). Programming may include academic extensions, enrichment, and social-emotional support.
