    Educational Background:

DePaul University, M.Ed. in Elementary Education with secondary endorsements in Science and Social Studies; December 2000.
Western Illinois University, Bachelor of Science in RPTA; December 1992.

    Experience:

I began my career in education teaching middle school math and science.  After six years working in the middle school setting, I made the transition to the elementary level. I have been teaching Fourth Grade at Lafayette Elementary since 2006

    Hobbies and Personal Interests:

In 2011, my wife and I adopted our daughter, Ayla, on the day she was born.  I enjoy creating fun and exciting opportunities for her to make discoveries about her own skills and the world around her. As a family, we play, dance, sing, create and learn together.  We also enjoy long walks with our huskies, Maya and Sula on the Boulder County open space that surrounds our home.  My wife, Chrissy and I have enjoyed learning about and immersing ourselves in new cultures by traveling internationally.  Other passions include: camping, canoeing, snowshoeing, reading great books, enjoying live music, etc.

What do you like about your job?

I most enjoy creating a classroom community in which every single student feels valued and has a sense of belonging.  I enjoy helping students recognize the importance of challenging themselves.

I thoroughly enjoy working with enthusiastic young learners as they expand their knowledge and make new discoveries each and every day. I enjoy making my lessons experiential, hands-on and relevant to their daily lives. When a student experiences success, he or she is likely to seek out additional opportunities to be successful in school. I take great pride in creating an environment in which students are excited about coming to school an about learning.

I am both thrilled and honored to have the opportunity to work with your son or daughter this school year. I will strive to publish a classroom newsletter every other week to update parents on our current learning objectives, as well as upcoming events. Please feel free to contact me at any time to discuss the progress of your child in our classroom community.
