Lauren Johnson

    3rd grade

I attended the University of Colorado at Boulder for my undergraduate and graduate degrees. My undergraduate degree is in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences and Elementary Education. My graduate degree is in K-12 Literacy, which is my passion! I continue to take online classes and attend conferences to make sure I am up to date on best teaching practices. I am a life-long learner!

I have always had a passion for working with children! I started babysitting when I was 11 and then was a camp counselor for the YMCA of Boulder Valley and a nanny all throughout college. As a student teacher, I worked at Lawrence Elementary (Jeffco Public Schools) in a 3rd grade classroom. They hired me as a reading teacher and then as a third grade teacher. After a year in the classroom I moved to Telluride where I was a substitute teacher for a year and then hired to teach a 4/5 multiage class. I continued to teach 4th and 5th grades in Telluride for four years. In pursuit of my master’s, my family and I moved to Superior so I could attend CU. I substitute taught in BVSD and completed a long-term substitute position as a kindergarten teacher at Louisville Elementary. This will be my fourth year at Lafayette Elementary where I have taught 4th grade, kindergarten, and 3rd grade. I LOVE being a part of the Lafayette Elementary Community and am so excited to be a part of the third grade team again this year!

I love being outdoors. Some of my favorite things to do outside are hike, stand up paddle board, ski, and play soccer. I also love to read, do yoga, and spend time with my family.

I love creating positive relationships with my students and their families. I love watching students learn and grow throughout the year. And I love instilling my passion for life-long learning in my students!
