I started at Lafayette Elementary in 2009, where I worked first as Literacy Specialist, then as Fourth, Second, and First Grade teacher.

I enjoy hiking (climbed twenty 14ers), gardening, snowshoeing, cooking, sewing, traveling, and conversations over coffee. I have three grown children and two grandchildren who fill my heart.

I love the magic of beginning with a group of students and ending up with a class whose hearts and minds are knit together.  We learn to encourage each other, benefit from strengths and help each other with our weaknesses. It is an honor to learn from students and staff each day, to face daily surprises, and share in families' lives. I treasure the relationships, the academic growth, and the challenges that each year brings.

Here's part of one of favorite songs, written by a friend from Northern Ireland. Certainly food for thought.

"Rest for Awhile" by  Colum Sands

Rest for awhile now the night is young

The time is short and the road is long

Tell me a story I'll sing you a song

For tomorrow the road will be calling us on.

Don't let your journey be stopped at the start

There are times when your feet have to follow your heart

But the faster you travel the less you can see

And the more that you have the less you can be.

    a song

For tomorrow the road will be calling us on

Don't let your journey be stopped at the start

There are times when your feet have to follow your heart

But the faster you travel the less you can see

And the more that you have the less you can be
